E-commerce Giant Amazon has launched a sleeker version of its Amazon Kindle app. The new app, dubbed as Kindle Lite consumes 2 to 3 megabytes storage memory. It provides a great experience on mobile devices connected to a slow WiFi, 2G or 3G connection.
Unlike the Amazon Kindle app, the interface of the Kindle Lite doesn’t boast flashy animations or icons. Hence, it consumes less RAM and processor.

When users run Kindle Lite app, they’ll be prompted to select their preferred font size. The app’s interface is divided into four sections. Kindle Lite reads your Amazon search history and displays a scrollable list of books in its Home section. You can either buy the book or read it on your Android device by joining the Kindle unlimited program. The subscription fee of the same is $2.5 in India and $9.9 in the US.
Kindle Lite displays a list of books that you were reading earlier in the day or week. The app remembers the last read page and displays the same in its Home interface.
The option to search Kindle books on Amazon.com is located in the Library interface of the app. K Lite enables you to filter search results by category, popularity, rating or subscription type.
Users can write a review on books they’ve enjoyed reading. They can also rate the books on a scale of 5. The Store section of Kindle Lite enables you to buy books online. Once you select the book, you can read sample pages, see its description, see similar books, etc

The settings section of Kindle Lite application allows you to see the amount of storage memory and mobile/WiFi data the app has consumed when it was running on your device.
The app saves books you add to your “read it later” list or buy on the storage memory of the phone. Hence, you can read books offline. Amazon K Lite allows you to free up storage memory by deleting the saved books. You can buy books with the Amazon Pay service.
The application’s settings panel provides an option to set a device name. It allows you to unlink your email address and delete the content associated with it.
Kindle Lite might display notifications on new offers and titles. You can disable the same from the settings interface. The Amazon app uses light color theme by default. You switch the color theme from light to dark in this app.
The latest edition of the Kindle Lite application runs on Android Kit Kat, Lollipop, Marshmallow and Oreo OS powered devices. The app doesn’t allow you to change the font language. However, it allows you to read books in other languages.
