It would not be wrong to say that mobile phones have today become an important part of our everyday life. We entirely rely on them for almost everything like from capturing memories to getting in touch with our near and dear ones. Further, not only they let us store as well as carry files, but also provide multiple options for sharing the same with other devices on the go.
For a time, Bluetooth technology was one of the most preferred ways to share or move files wirelessly between computers and other mobile devices. The only thing a user had to do is pair their smartphone with a Bluetooth enabled device to begin the transfer process.
However, with the arrival of Wi-Fi technology, the use of Bluetooth for transferring files has decreased a lot. Today, it (Bluetooth) has merely become a secondary option for sharing files between devices.
Wi-Fi file transfers are much faster than Bluetooth. Being an amazing technology, many well-known developers have today come up with such apps that offer the Wi-Fi file sharing feature and Xender is one of them.
Xender is an incredibly easy-to-use file sharing app, with which you can connect two or more devices at once to transfer data, 199 times faster than Bluetooth. The app is Wi-Fi based, and it supports all leading mobile operating systems, including Windows.
This app sounds great on paper but in practice, does it let you transfer files at an incredible speed? Let us find it out how. Here are my views and a brief review of the free Xender app for Android.
Xender being a free file transfer and sharing app, has more than 10 million Android users around the world. The app available on the Google Play Store, iTunes and for Windows phone, it is available for download on the Windows app store. Xender supports any mobile device or tablet that runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and upper versions.
If compatible with your device, you can download the Xender app’s 3.1.0329 version, which comes in an APK file size of 6.42 MB. Once installed, this app uses a total space of 18.61 MB from your device’s inbuilt storage memory and on regular usage; it employs an average 100 MB to maximum 129 MB of RAM.
Before you start Xender, make sure that you install the same app on other devices too. If you do not, you would not be able to transfer nor share any file from one device to other.
After installing the Xender app, launch it. The app will bring in front a one-time welcome screen and ask for a couple of permissions like to use your device’s location, storage, and change system settings.
When you accept them, the app will right away take you to its main screen or in other words, the dashboard from where it will let you view, manage files on your device and perform the required actions.
The user interface of this app looks pretty neat and intuitive. Every single thing, from options to functions on the app are laid out clearly, which makes it a lot easier for a user to find stuff and carry out operations on the go.
For sharing files, videos, apps, PDF documents from one device to other, run the Xender app. In the lower right-hand corner of the screen, you will find a small coin like button, which holds the Send and Receive options, so tap on it.
On selecting the Send option from the pop-up window, the app will enable Xender Wi-Fi hotspot and ask you to connect the other Android device with yours. In case, if the other device does not have Xender installed; you can send the app (Xender) directly to it as an option is made available for doing so.
After connecting the receiving device and select all those files you want to transfer. After finalizing what all data you have to send, tap on the Send button. The app will start the transfer process and within moments, all your selected data will be forwarded to the other device.
You can use Xender on PC with the Bluestacks app player software (link). Make sure that you download and install this software. Using Bluestacks is an easy task.
